Title: Spielberg movie about Abraham Lincoln
Post by: Hoss on April 20, 2012, 07:44:42 am
I had no idea this was even being filmed.

And Daniel Day Lewis playing Lincoln.

This has epic WIN all over it.

It's evidently based on a book called "Team of Rivals" by Doris Kearns Goodwin.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0443272/

Here's a look at DDL in character during the filming (this was taken in Richmond, VA)

The movie, from Spielberg's own lips, will NOT include anything related to Booth.  It likely will stop at him and the missus attending the Theatre and after that I'm guessing screen narration as to what happened next.  Although anyone of adult age should know the ending.

Of course, they're still in post; that's always likely to change.  I'm a geek for this era.  I watch Ken Burns' 'Civil War' series at least once a year.  Still one of the best historical documentaries ever made.

No; that sounds more like your style.  Have you been known to frequent 11th Street?  Hang out with Paul Tay by chance?

In keeping with the topic, the trailer has been released.

Looks incredibly good.

Note:  for those of you thinking that Lincoln's voice was deep, you'll be disappointed, as many in the crowd during his famous address at Gettysburg in Nov of 1863 report that his voice is high pitched and shrill.  It appears that Daniel Day Lewis portrays it in that manner.

As long as the final product isn't cut like a damn music video, I'll probably enjoy this.
