Title: First street narrowing?
Post by: TheTed on December 01, 2011, 11:36:13 am
There's a couple of blocks downtown on First between about Boston and Boulder where they're putting in new curbs. The new curbs look to be completely eliminating the far left lane, about six feet farther out in the street from the current curbs.

Anybody have any idea what the plan is here? I'll take any official city acknowledgment that downtown Tulsa doesn't need more space for cars and parking as a positive. Are we just widening the sidewalk, installing some sort of protected bike lane, or what? I believe there is/was currently curbside parking there.

I don't know anything about the project, but my w.a.g. is that additional sidewalk capacity is needed to accommodate BOK center crowds.
