Title: cain's ranked 27th nationally by pollstar...
Post by: brunoflipper on May 01, 2005, 11:31:16 am
the world has a story about how cain's ranked 27th in total ticket sales for clubs across the US in the first quarter of this year... i love the cain's (been to two shows in two months) and am quite pleased to see tulsans out supporting live acts... the questions is what are the rest of the rankings... pollstar ticket sales charts are for paid subscribers only but i wondered if anyone here had access to the rest of the data...

is it kosher to cut and paste the article contents?

"Cain's Ballroom a national leader in live music

Ask most music lovers in town and they'll say Cain's Ballroom is the place to hear live music in Tulsa.

The entertainment industry publication Pollstar has proof that business is indeed booming like a bass drum at the historic venue.

In a Pollstar ticket-sales chart, which rates venues from across the country, the Cain's ranked 27th overall with 20,317 tickets sold this year between Jan. 1 and March 31.

Cain's manager Chad Rodgers attributed the venue's success during that period to four things: "Quality artists, continued focus on the updated renovations, great support from the public and great booking."

Among the acts who helped bolster tickets sales, he said, were the likes of Elvis Costello, Gavin DeGraw, Modest Mouse, Robert Plant and others.

Rodgers added that the 20,317 tickets sold only includes the shows reported to Pollstar.

Rodgers said if tickets sales to shows, such as T.I., Relient K, Shinedown and more, were added to the 20,317 tickets sold, the number would be "close to 28,000."

The top spot went to Denver's Fillmore Auditorium, which sold 62,346 tickets."- Tulsa World; May 01, 2005; Final Home Edition
