Councilor Bill Christiansen appears poised to reverse his vote denying the bank’s plat at 71st and Harvard. It seems now that the only reason he voted with Councilors Medlock, Turner, Henderson and Mautino to reject the plat was to be able to file a motion to reconsider at the Thursday 5:00 p.m. pre-meeting of the Council in Room 201 of City Hall. Councilor Henderson is out of town and this provides the Cockroach Caucus with an opportunity to reverse the Council vote on the plat. Here’s hoping Councilor Henderson can make it back in time. An interesting development is a last ditch effort by the City Attorney’s office to coerce the councilors who voted the plat down by suggesting that they have personal liability for this. What a crock! This suggestion is pure intimidation and clearly exposes the City’s legal department for what it has become: a branch location of F & M Bank and the Mayor’s development wish list. Until we get a new mayor and an overhaul of this department, the Council will be on its own for balanced legal advice.


Of even more importance, the 6:00 p.m. Council Meeting in the Francis Campbell auditorium next to City Hall has agenda items regarding affirming the recall petitions and calling recall elections. A rally is being held at 5:00 p.m. to protest against the recalls and to support the Council’s rejection of the recall petitions. Please be there if at all possible. News coverage of the event will let Tulsans know how important these issues are to all of us.
