Title: Thai Village Cuisine
Post by: Gaspar on March 19, 2010, 09:05:50 am
If you have not visited this little spot of heaven you should.

Best Thai food I've ever had in Oklahoma.  Great prices.

Be cautious.  I love Hot, but Hot here is too hot for any creature with orifices.

The mild is pleasantly spicy, and the medium is nice and fiery.

Good curry, fresh ingredients, and portions that are not obnoxious.

It's at 81st and Lewis where the old Da' Boat used to be.

Thanks for the tip...

I like hot, but some of the stuff is too hot for me as well. I once ate some spicy food that was so hot it burned hair off my yet to be born kids.

I like hot too but since asbestos was outlawed, the lining in my mouth is only good for cayenne, serrano, & tabasco level heat without dilution with other food.

Sounds interesting.  I have never had the pleasure to try Thai food.  I should take my mother, since she seems to have a resistance to spicey stuff.  She complained that her fresh wasabi brought over from Japan was too mild.

Wow!
Wasabi hot is different than chile hot, more like horseradish hot... but you got one tough mom.

This is a good place!  Be aware that "hot" is pretty stout here.

Medium is hot.

Hot is lava with bean sprouts.

As a hot sauce collector, I love the heat. I will be heading over there after vacation.

Do not get hot.  I am warning you.  I like things very very hot.  The hot is beyond anything you may enjoy.

I ordered the "hot" red curry. Very flavorful and, no gaspar, it was not that hot. After dinner I asked if hot was the hottest, and the waiter told me there is a "Thai" hot as well. Have to get that next time.

Guido, I assure you that it really was that hot.  You have built up a tolerance.

For the general public and even some "hot food enthusiasts", Gaspar's advice stands.

I scoff at "hot" at Mexican places, don't do it at Asian places.  I think they enjoy watching stupid white people bleed through their eyes.

That's an understatement. I am not even boasting, but I used teaspoon of this sauce on the red curry to get to the heat level I wanted.

One of the guys where I work has a "tolerance".  Last summer I watched him eat one of my homegrown Habanero peppers like it was a radish. He never flinched and never even broke a sweat.  Wow!  My tolerance to munch on a pepper is the serrano, tabasco, cayenne level, but only a few.  A Habo chopped into little pieces mixed in a small salad is also OK.

I agree about Asian hot. I ate at the little Asian Restaurant at 21st and Garnett. N.W. corner. The little old Lady brought out my food and after I tasted it. I called her back and asked if they had anything that would spice it up hotter. She said yes but she was not sure if I would like it because in her broken English it was very, very,"HOT" To her I responded...Push,Push,Tish,Tish. Bring it on !!!!
She took my plate back behind the door(TO HELL) and brought it back out to me.
It didnt look to bad and she scampered back to the kitchen.
Three bites and my taste buds was gone. I know my face looked like a stop light.
I had a beer there which was of no help. The glass of ice water just intensified the torture. And like a true putz, I asked for a doggie bag in hopes that I could somehow calm it down with something at the house.
Needless to say. The meal was ruined and so was my pride.

I recently ordered the "Shut Up Juice" from "The Mean Pig" in Arkansas. Man vs. Food's Richman won the challenge. I will report back my encounter, assuming I survive.

Nah, he's a nice enough guy that I don't want to kill him.
