Title: staying on topic
Post by: RecycleMichael on March 13, 2010, 05:53:55 pm
We sure are a bunch of ADD posters on TulsaNow.

I am just as guilty as everyone else, but I notice lately we seem to have gotten worse. Topics about Sarah Palin turn into discussions about local beer and topics about chinese food turn into words about pizza. Pizza talk becomes two people talking about bus services to the suburbs and PlaniTulsa threads all become about streetlights.

I admit, sometimes the conversation needs to be changed or ended. But we can't seem to ever stay on topic for more than a couple of thoughts.

Just observing...how bout them Packers?

I don't think there should be any punishment, but we should each at least try to occassionally get back to the topic.

I think of these threads as conversations between a few people that has many other people listening. When we hear from different points of view on an interesting topic, we tend to learn from each other and usually even come up with a few good ideas or solutions.

That is the thing I like best about TulsaNow.

Take that, you Obama spooners.

It amazes me that people can't just see it on one that bad. Even half decent alterations are usually identifiable by spending 5 seconds looking at the photo and thinking about where the light is coming from. In that case, it's not necessary at all. Miracle lights, front seats in the back of a Towncar, and more!

On a completely different note, here's how to make a real photo look fake:

It looks like the photographer just now figured out that it was possible to remotely trigger an off-camera flash.  ::)

And apparently, he still has yet to figure out how to properly expose a photo with flash.

Reasor's 12 hour sale on Saturday (8am-8pm) has 8 count PopTart boxes for $.98. (limit four)

You can take a friend and get 64 PopTarts for $7.84. That is $.0025 cheaper per PopTart.

Title: Re: staying on topic
Post by: Red Arrow on March 17, 2010, 09:38:16 pm
Pretty clever of Target to build a store 5 miles closer to me (111th & Memorial) than Reasor's so I won't get pulled in by Reasor's sale.  I don't eat PopTarts. If I did, I could claim to be doing the environmentally correct thing by buying PopTarts at the closer store, Target.  I would actually be spending $.34 more for the PopTarts but saving $.67 in (91 Octane) gas.  Living out here in a foreign country has taught us to plan our shopping more carefully than just getting PopTarts.

And now it's time for a word about Highway 33  installing light rail......

I was also mislead by the advertisment that says you get a free shed ender with the purchase of pedi paws. The box the pedipaws comes in is big enough for both products but they are shipped seperatly so that you get doubled charged. This company is misleading and is conducting business in an unethical manner. I highly recommend that no one buy this product they don't deserve your money.

Too late.  Already said it.

Should be interesting to see a foot of snow rippling across the surface of the pool.  Might make a good picture or video.  Especially if you have kids to take picture of jumping or diving in!  Let me know if you can talk them into THAT!!

Or if they could slip in at one end without disturbing the snow and move over and poke their head up through it.

As warm as it has been, it will probably just melt...

Doubtful that it's going to be a foot, and if so it won't last long.  We had a snow just like it about this same time last year.  Dumped about 6 inches of snow, was gone in less than 24 hours due to the 65 degree day that followed.

Id be tempted to toss a rotten egg at them, but be careful, in Enid two teens were just charged with a felony for doing that.

I was reading a news article and happened to notice that "Nancy Pelosi" had almost all the letters to spell APOCALYPSE. But not entirely. However, add her middle name - Patricia - and you can spell APOCALYPSE CANTINA. (OK so there's an R left over...I still found it interesting.)

Sounds like a band name.

Staying on topic is sort of like that old childhood game we used to call "gossip."  A large group of kids/people, and the first one whispers something to the person next to him, the second one whispers the same to the third, and so on down the line.   By the time the last person hears the message, it is totally different and unrelated to the original message.
