Title: Honest mechanic Post by: stymied on August 05, 2009, 08:28:51 am Can anyone recommend an honest mechanic? Particularly one good with electrical issues. I have an aging Toyota. I am sick of taking it to the dealer. The service technicians at Toyota work off commission, and it shows as they are always trying to up sell.

I saw them fix an elderly California couple's tire and waive the fee telling them "they've had a hard enough day." On another occasion I was advised that a rattle was a loose bracket and they could replace it for $200, rig it to stop rattling for ~$100, or that it wasn't needed for anything useful and they could just tear it off (I opted for 3). They've always been fast, courteous, and willing to explain thing to me. And no, I'm not related to the owners or have anything to do with the business other than being an extremely satisfied customer. I felt they were very fair on the pricing and the work was done right the first time.
