Title: Oklahoma rankings Post by: PonderInc on July 08, 2009, 03:45:24 pm I keep seeing depressing national rankings re: Oklahoma.
46th for per pupil spending 42th for teacher pay 6th for teen birth rates (Finally we score high!) (Oh.) 42nd for taxes as a share of personal income 42nd for women in elected office 9th for people lacking health insurance (all ages) 3rd for tobacco use 11th for infant mortality 6th for obesity 4th for domestic violence 1st for female incarceration rates Oh yeah, and Tulsa is #1 for erectile dysfunction. (Does that explain the difficulties facing a strong, smart, female mayor in this town? Hmmm.) Oh, but don't worry. We're good at football. And we excel at preaching about immorality. I didn't see any rankings for number of dolts elected to public office, but I bet we rank high on that one, too. Then, I saw this one: 48th in brain health (perhaps this explains the elected officials?) Title: Re: Oklahoma rankings Post by: Red Arrow on July 08, 2009, 05:35:50 pm Missing:
?? for personal income ?? cost of housing as a percent of income ?? cost of living as a percent of income Just watch the news to see what other states are electing Dolts, plenty. Title: Re: Oklahoma rankings Post by: waterboy on July 08, 2009, 05:47:41 pm Probably not fair to single out Oklahoma. The southern or near south regions are all performers on your lists. Just match them up to the last election colors and see if there is a pattern. :) But we like it here. The weather is temperate, the discretionary spending levels are good and housing is cheap. Also the music is first rate. Just find your niche, tell everyone you're conservative Libertarian (not republican!) get a Prozac prescription and you'll do just fine. ;)
Title: Re: Oklahoma rankings Post by: cannon_fodder on July 09, 2009, 08:29:38 am To throw in a curve ball, how does spending per pupil compare with average SAT/ACT scores?
Average ACT scores here: http://www.act.org/news/data/07/states.html I'd be interested to see that. - - - Otherwise. . . *sigh*. But can we leave football out of it? I like football. About 84% of police killings in the state from 1980 to 2018 were unreported or misclassified in official government reports, according to the peer-reviewed study in The Lancet, one of the world's oldest and most renowned medical journals.
