What's your favorite Thai joint, where, and why?

Taven's in Owasso, good food, good service, good friendly people running it and good location, if you live in Owasso or north Tulsa/Rogers county.    ;D

Tavin's is OK, but Thai Siam is better.

Is that the Native American/Thai place in Owasso? If so, it's just awful, really awful.

Bangkok Super THai Buffet!

Close to home/work. Inexpensive.  Convenient for lunch.  Local.  Decent food.

Site of the next TulsaNow lunch?

Love it!  +1

I'm the guy in the corner with sweat running down my head, and a mouth full of the basil chicken.  Why does that have to be so hot and so good at the same time?

Favorite Thai joint? Thai schtick! But have not seen any since the CIA quit importing it in the 1970's.

Thai Siam has slipped a bit since the 90's when it was a novelty before it expanded and the kids grew up....

Lana Thai slipped when they left 51st and Harvard. The other location at Memorial has no ambiance and the food is greasier.

CF, where's the Thai Buffet? 31st and Mingo?

Use to eat at BangKok in NYC across from studio51 and it was amazingly good. The native Thais did not use chopstix but spoons to scoop their dinner.....

Bangkok is at 33rd & Harvard.  I have not been there in years.  It was before they went "buffet".

Thai Siam gets my vote.

I also have to go with Thai Siam.

Thai Cafe in Stillwater is incredibly good...

33rd and Harvard indeed.  Next to the Library behind the Diner on 32nd.  A store front in a squished in strip mall like thing.

Anyone ever notice that Thai places have real Thai people, Chinese food is largely staffed by (what I assume to be) Chinese people, Lebanese places are run by Lebanese people . . . but Italian places are almost never run but immigrants?   Not that it really matters, just seems odd that some ethnic food is still ethnic . . . other ethnic food is just food.

Best place I know of is "Hmong."

31st and Garnett on the NW corner.   Closed on Mondays.

That in the same center with Napoli's?  Or the one where Rib Crib is at?  I might have to give that a try.

It is behind the Rib Crib and the Church's...   Next to the All American.

Technically, Hmong Cafe is Laotian food. The Yang family is from Laos. The food is great. I especially like their lo mein.

Bangkok is my favorite Thai buffet. I think he was the first local Southeast Asian restaurant locally to go MSG-free.

I will agree that Hmong Cafe is pretty good.

Darn!  I love MSG.  That's why I eat lots of tomatoes, mushrooms and dairy.

They contain very high amounts of MSG.

I've generally avoided buffets after seeing some of the customer's spotty hygiene.  Besides, food kept out on a steam table just doesn't taste as good as something made fresh.

It's funny that no one has mentioned the more popular and more expensive Thai places.

I'll go with Thai Siam also, though. Excellent food at reasonable prices brings me back every time.

Bangkok works pretty hard at keeping the food on the buffet fresh.  They put out small amounts...often.

Owasso is getting a new Thai place where Il Vecchio's used to be.  They haven't opened yet, but there's a sign in the window saying they're hiring.

Once the place opens, I'll post about the food.  She-Who-Must-Be-Obeyed likes Thai, and if there's one thing I've learned about being married, it's that my main job is to keep Mama happy!

I apparently never mastered that...
