From Tulsa World (//%22http://www.tulsaworld.com/BusinessStory.asp?ID=061110_Bu_E1_BIZ3%22):

Meanwhile, retail gasoline prices jumped in Tulsa. The most prevalent price for regular-grade gas climbed to $2.09 a gallon, a 12-cent rise from $1.97.
/I'm not big on conspiracies, but the big decline in gas prices in the runup to the election caught my attention. Anyone else think that there is more than "market forces" at work here?
I'm not all seeing and all knowing, but methinks whatever people want, they shall recieve.........which isn't always good for them, or to their praise.
It was a $1.95 in my neighborhood yesterday.
Most people would also point out that gas prices almost always spike during holidays. It is veteran's day today and we're heading into turkey day.
I made sure to fill up on election day just in case.

Gas prices also spike when the oil companies figure out that come January their price gouging scheme is up. They will be investigated by congress. You watch prices drop after the dems officially take over.

Uh huh. I'll bookmark this thread and check for accuracy come January. :)
I was driving around yesterday, and saw $1.95 at the Quiktrips, then later in the day it jumped to $2.09
Yes, a conspiracy theorist must wonder....
14 cents in one day, ouch.
For the record, it happened thursday, which is 2 days after the election, not one.

Even the oil companies don't wanna be TOO obvious. I predict gas will be $2.25 by the end of next week and $2.50 within two weeks after that.

Where are the black helicopters now?
Looks like it's tailing off once again. Another conspiracy theory shot to hell.
The feds can't control the price of gas any better than OPEC can.
Hard to believe that U.S. companies would so blatantly and openly gouge U.S. citizens and businesses, even if you lived through the price manipulation of electricity in California after deregulation. Energy companies got caught red handed and were fined and sued and it's a matter of history now that energy companies said profits matter and consumers don't. I saw rolling blackouts in major U.S. cities because of deliberate price manipulations. We had rolling blackouts in the financial districts and in our neighborhoods. Unreal. But even old line blue chip capitalists don't play by the same rules that they used to. We live in an age of predatory capitalism and everyone is a fair target.
