Title: Friday's Democratic debate--yikes!
Post by: ifsandbuts on March 04, 2006, 07:56:02 AM
OK, McCorkell has officially passed the line into reeeaaaalllly creepy--like scary creepy. Anyone else at the forum Friday night and see his bizarre performance? I'm not sure which was his most memorable line--"If you want a mayor who's not ugly, don't vote for me!" or the whole "I'm not a drunk!! It's rosacea!! Look it up!" rant he yelled at the audience. (Either would make a GREAT T-shirt slogan, by the way.)

Honestly, he came across as completely unhinged. The whole front row of people were leaning back into their seats away from him, and even his son was cringing and clearly embarrassed when he started yelling about Kathy Taylor.

It was telling at the end when people stood up showing their support of the candidates, 10 people (maybe the same 10 people who contributed to him?) stood up for McCorkell, compared to probably 30 for Taylor (and 5 or so for James Alexander!) And this is a crowd you would have thought would have been full of McCorkell people. I'm sure most of the people there came in knowing who they planned to vote for, but I can't imagine if there were any undecideds that they came away supporting him, and even his die-hards had to have been wondering if he's unbalanced. He seems to have truly lost it.
