Title: Swing States
Post by: DolfanBob on October 05, 2012, 04:53:13 PM
OK. I am the first to admit that I am not all that up on political subjects.
But help me out here. What makes a Swing State? and does it change from election to election?
Why is Ohio so important? or any other State for that matter. Is it the population or amount of Delegates?

Electoral votes....the ones that are on the edge of a state going either way.

Oklahoma is the opposite of a swing state. Iowa once was not a swing state, but because the election is close there, their contribution to the electoral vote supposedly matters. Go figure.

Ohio has lots of old trees with horizontal limbs.  One can use a rope to tie a worn out tire to the limb and be well clear of the tree trunk.   Kids think that is really fun.  Parents are not so fond of the tire marks on the kids' clothes.

;D

Electoral votes and the fact that many (most?) states are winner take all can result in an Electoral College landslide with a really close popular vote.
