My favorite retort came from Prime Minister David Cameron.
"We are holding an Olympic Games in one of the busiest, most active, bustling cities anywhere in the world. Of course it's easier if you hold an Olympic Games in the middle of nowhere," Cameron said, a comment that was widely interpreted as a reference to Salt Lake City, where Romney headed up the organizing committee.
Favorite remark at the end of the story (ignoring the fringe rants) "Conservatives don't play well with others."
He at least realized his error and tried to make amends.
I thought it was disconcerting when I heard that G4S, who had agreed to handle the security, said they couldn't bring in enough people. England is being forced to supplement with more troops than they have in Afghanistan. Is this concerting?
If that's a diss, I'm doing it wrong.
Brit papers blast Mitt Romney

shocking....insulting our closest ally in the world....inappropriate comments......Foreign Policy's Joshua Keating noted today that in his book "No Apology," Romney belittled England as "just a small island" that "doesn't make things that people in the rest of the world want to buy."
what a moron to say these things...
Mittens has no foreign policy experience so he surrounds himself with the neo-cons.

We can't trust these people who had their chance in the last century and screwed America up once already this century. They're all from the middle of nowhere.

Mitt hits the fan.
Grizz, the security issue is a touchy subject within the country. Appears that Cameron elected to contract out the security rather than use their own state unionized security forces, a practice Romney is familiar with. His remarks were accurate, but he was there as a goodwill ambassador and as such was expected to provide positive affirmations while reinforcing his own successful management of the Olympics.
I think he failed at those two goals. Nonetheless, as the bard might say, "twas a tempest in a teapot".
Maybe...I dunno...what a schmoe!

So much for the 'special relationship'....
So bad were the gaffes by Romney in London, here's how he responded to them for the remainder of the trip:

This is almost comical now.

Where was the security company going to come up with 10,000 guards, raid the ranks of Burger King like we did with TSA?

If you really think Thatcherism is a solution to 21st century problems, I suppose. Or any problems, for that matter. I'm not quite sure why it is you fetishize the folks whose policies made it so the average income of most people has declined in real terms since then, but I suppose if you like making less money that's your business.

ROMNEY'S GAFFES WORSEN IN ISRAEL

TEL AVIV (The Borowitz Report)—The Mitt Romney Gaffe Express pulled into a new station today, leaving its conductor's hopes of proving himself to be a nimble statesman in tatters.
Mr. Romney's troubles began in a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, to whom he presented gifts of a HoneyBaked ham and a wheel of cheddar cheese.
After Mr. Netanyahu ordered both gifts removed from his residence and destroyed, Mr. Romney went on to address the Knesset, where he congratulated the Jewish people on building the pyramids.
"Ann and I saw them during a cruise we took to the Middle East, and they were magnificent," he told the stunned legislators. "As accomplishments go, building the pyramids isn't up there with saving the Olympics, but you should still feel very, very proud. Nice job."
Sensing that his remarks were not going over as well as intended, Mr. Romney improvised: "No, really. Incredible building job you did. If any of you would like to work on our house in La Jolla, just say the word. Only thing is, you'll have to work Saturdays."
Mr. Romney's day concluded with an awkward moment at the West Bank, where he attempted to deposit ten million dollars.

Not one his best sketches but not at all hard to imagine.
Why do you always take two LDSs fishing with you?
Because if you take one he'll drink all your beer.
Onto Poland! Will we see Mitt screw up a Polish joke? How can he embarrass us there?
Honey-baked ham for Netanyahu, that's some funny smile right there.

CROWnan, you can't renounce an ethnic group and just "be done". Just another fyi. One may choose to no longer participate in the community, but they can not change their mores instilled in their makeup. The only way you can renounce the religion is to convert. Agnostics and atheists abound but are still a big part of Judaism.
No, the morons who might run our country can renounce their religion but not their 10 grandmothers....
He's evidently not really making the Poles warm up to him either...well, all except for Lech Walesa. The movement he founded however, does not endorse nor support him (Solidarity).

Evidently stone face hasn't taken very many questions on his trip. Better off to keep mouth shut and have people think you're a buffoon then to open and remove all do...wait, what?
His aide today went off on reporters, telling them to "kiss my donkey" and "shove it". LOL.

Rush Limbaugh: Press 'harassing' Mitt Romney
http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0712/79210.html (http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0712/79210.html)
QuoteThe traveling press corps is "harassing" Mitt Romney to "create gaffes" that benefit President Barack Obama and distract from the candidate's "home run" of a trip, Rush Limbaugh said Tuesday.
"Now the reporters are harassing Romney," Limbaugh said, referring to a Tuesday morning incident where a Romney press aide told journalists to "shove it." "They're trying to create gaffes. They're working on behalf of Barack Obama. They are attempting to carry forth the meme that Romney's foreign trip is a disaster, that it's one gaffe after another. They're trying to do this in the mainstream. And the fact of the matter is Romney is having a home run of a trip."
Romney was criticized by London politicians and newspapers for calling the city's challenges prior to the Olympics "disconcerting." In the Middle East, Romney's remarks on the differences between the Palestinian and Israeli economies at a fundraiser were condemned as "racist" by Palestinian leaders.
The Poland stop started better — Romney was endorsed by anti-Communist hero Lech Walsea — but the confrontation between reporters and the Romney campaign has dominated the news cycle.
Despite these gaffes, Limbaugh said comments from Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad proved Romney was having success overseas and claimed the authoritarian had endorsed President Barack Obama.
"He is doing such a good job that Mahmoud Ahmadinejad actually came out, and for all intents and purposes, endorsed Obama yesterday," Limbaugh said, according to a transcript.
In remarks reported by the Associated Press, Ahmadinejad never mentions the incumbent president but criticizes Romney for "kissing the foot" of the Jewish state and asks if the presumptive GOP nominee made concessions to "get some pennies for [his] campaign."
