I saw that.  There HAS to be more to the story.  On the week leading up to Memorial Day?

If we get rid of everything offensive to any one person then we would have nothing.  People who are easily offended are weak.

I thought that too, but what could it be?  Was this woman running around saying "Africa sucks" or something?

Hospital changes heart and the flag is back up. Apparently, the offensiveness was the size of the flag. Whatever.

And her family's commitment to defending this country is likewise big. What's your point?

And did you notice that the same type of people who seem to defend the American flag being taken down didn't have a problem with a Che flag in an Obama campaign office?

Well, you know . . . i'd much more prefer she put up Ye Olde Hammer and Sickle, but we pinko commies can't always get what we want.

Do they make a Universal Healthcare flag?  I'd fly that one.

Maybe you guys don't work in offices with other people in close proximity. Maybe you each own your own businesses and call the shots.  I don't know.  All I'm saying is, that's a big damn piece of cloth for a cube farm, whether it's the Stars and Bars or it's the Confederate Battle Flag.  Put up whatever flag you want, just have some consideration for the people you work with.

Be a patriot, just don't be an donkey about it.

If you work in a fairly tall building and you're hanging the flag in the window so people can see it from outside, that isn't very big.

I guess I'm just one of those people who thinks that if I'm sharing an office with 3 other supervisors, I might wanna let them know before I bring in a 3x5 flag for Memorial Day or July 4th.  I don't think it's being PC, just polite.

I don't think you are out of line at all on your comment about letting people in a shared space know out of politeness.  What blew me away was the supposed 15 or so people who complained about being "offended" by it.  Who in this country should be offended by the American flag, natural born, legal or naturalized immigrant, or trespassing (unless it's an asshat terrorist)?  I probably would mention to my co-workers that I was hanging a flag for Memorial Day.

Two of the American flags I have are particularly special to me.  One was flown over Iraq and the other over Afghanistan by a good friend of mine who was a tech in an AWACS unit.  They were presented to me with a certificate and mission medalion from each mission.  If I chose to display either in my personal workspace at work, no one here would complain about it, but I probably would ask my boss if it would create any problems before I did it, just to be polite.

I think I smelled a rat when I read about the "supposed 15 or so people who complained about being offended by it."

I think this is classic office politics involving a pent-up middle management egotist using coercion to justify removing the flag... of course, the supervisor in question took down the flag when the other sup had the day off, rather than confront her in private or take his beef with her to a co-worker or superior.... typical office cowardice.

Of course, we're all only guessing... but this is Arlington, Texas we're talking about here... maybe the "15 or so people" were.... wait for it.... TEXAS SECESSIONISTS!  I blame Gov. Rick Perry for this!   ;D

"I was told that several people found it offensive but that if even one person complained, it would have to be taken down to maintain an air of neutrality." McLucas said.

"The other supervisor took it down unknown to me because I wasn't at work that day."

My guess is that the supervisor who complained and took the flag off the wall was an instigator who griped to the "15 or so people," some of whom had to be people who called him "boss" (I'm guessing FIVE is closer to the truth here).....
