Title: If Jesus ran for President...
Post by: mrburns918 on October 28, 2008, 11:13:20 AM
Hmmmmm.... interesting take. Is this a hidden video of the messiah complex of "Obama"? A statement about the Republican party? A stance on contradiction?

Don't care for the ending slap, but I think it kinda puts into perspective just how horribly wrong our political commercials have become.

Strangely enough, the following statement is a bit off topic...  but I would honestly vote for Jesus even as a non-Christian.

Pretty much everything he said in the Bible makes sense.  He was for separation of church and state.  He encouraged wise investment.  He encouraged private charity work.  He even warned people against wearing their religion on their sleeve.

And that's ignoring the whole he's fully/50%/33% God thing, which would certainly be an advantage.

I hereby claim copyright on the concept of Jesus as president.  Anyone wishing to buy movie rights or publishing rights can PM me.  [:P]

I think there are about a hundred sites proclaiming Jesus for president already.

Only a few supporting this ticket:

I would vote for Jesus too. Take away the God thing and see him as human, he is a fine example of what we all should strive for to better ourselves.

I am not sure he would meet the citizenship requirements.

Secondly, if Jesus was President, who would be Vice-President?

Would he have dinner with his cabinet?

I am not even sure he would be in favor of capitalism...remember what he did at that market.

If Jesus is president then the obvious choice for VP would be Santa Claus.

Mosses for Supreme Court Justice

David for Defense Secretary

Jonah for undersecretary of the Interior, Fish & Game.

Lazarus for the department of health

"Psalm" can be the poet laureate (I know, I know)

I tell ya', this administration could really be the hot ticket.

Yes, if you hang around as many bad people as Jesus did, you could never get elected. You can only hang around good people. Any person who has done something wrong "sinners"... you should push away and have nothing to do with them. Interesting how so many republicans, and Christians for that matter, will judge you harshly if you have any acquaintance with bad people. They absolutely do not espouse the idea that those are the very people a good person should reach out to, should be around in order to stand as an example for them to learn from. If the good people push the bad people away, from whom will the bad people learn? Wouldnt a real leader be around those who needed to learn from you the good person? Thank goodness Jesus didnt think like a lot of Christians do today, or He wouldnt want to be around any of us, and  none of us would have been able to have learned from Him. Reverend Wright, Bill Ayers? Jesus wouldn't want to be anywhere near them... He would only hang around wonderful, good people. Right? And no good person, no leader, no Christian, should be around them either.

After the books of Moses which is dedicated to the generations of the  Jew and there earthly laws, included in book we call the Bible  Much of Jesus short time on earth was dedicated to the idea that heaven will be solely communist where there will be no rich or poor.   His statement of "first to the Jew then to the Gentile would indicate the conversion of the Gentile would be the final episode of Jesus in his teachings of "love your neighbor".  (Spiritly)

He made many statements on the gates of heaven being closed to the rich man.  The assumption being it was not defined what a rich man was.

I assume that by "market" you meant the Jewish Temple where the Jewish Coin was bein exchanged for the Roman gold coin which had a material value by weight of the medal.   This would have been the intent of a barter of exchange.

How much would a bundled of recycled Federal Reserve notes be worth for recycling?

We won a Million Dollars once and it is in a plastic sealed box shredded in pieces about 1/8 in diameter.  If you can recycle it and sort them out again I split the million with you then you can say you have a  half-million dollars to those you run with,   You won't need a truck as boxed it is very easy to carry.

Do you have a JET AIRPLANE ?

Tnx for the QUSO.

Jesus would make an awful president.

He was an anarchist, essentially.  He was all about overthrowing earthly power structures (at that time they were mostly religious).  I think the Romans and their puppets were entirely justified in fearing him.  He was a direct threat to the stability of their states.

His vision of a civic alternative was pretty vague, but it had to do with asceticism, renunciation of earthly responsibilities, and spreading the word of God by traveling the land.   Not necessarily a great foundation for a democracy.

And let's not even bring up Jesus' responses to wealth creation.  Not only was he anti-rich, he wasn't much for encouraging the middle class, either . . . unless it was encouraging them to give up everything they owned and follow him.

I don't think you can fairly call Jesus Communist.  Communists at least believe in the existence of an economic system of some sort.  I don't think Jesus acknowledged an economy of any sort whatsoever.

Essentially, Jesus was about as radical as they come.

If Jesus were running for president, there would be a smear campaign paid for by religious right wing conservatives.

They would accuse Jesus of being a radical liberal.  They would talk about how Jesus "pals around" with prostitutes and criminals.  They would accuse him of being gay (all those diciples...).  They would say that he would destroy the financial lending system (ugly past involving money lenders).  They would worry about union labor (carpenters, especially).  They would say that he would be soft on crime, and not tough enough on evil dictators (turn the other cheek).

Plus, what with Jesus being a dark-skinned Jew and all...well that would be the final straw!

Take it back! Jesus was a good looking blue eyed guy with a frock and sandals and sheep all around him. His skin was white as unused ivory soap.

"Don't ever leave me, Jesus. I couldn't stand to see you go.
My heart would simply snap, my Lord, if you walked on out that door.
I promise I'll be good to you, and keep you warm at night.
Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, why don't we just... shut off the lights".
