2006 Gubernatorial Candidate Questionnaire: (//%22http://eagleforumalaska.blogspot.com/2006/07/2006-gubernatorial-candidate.html%22)

11. Are you offended by the phrase "Under God" in the Pledge of Allegiance? Why or why not?
SP: Not on your life. If it was good enough for the founding fathers, its good enough for me and I'll fight in defense of our Pledge of Allegiance.
I understand the sentiment, but, yowch.
The Pledge of Allegiance was written in 1892, by Francis Bellamy (1855-1931), a Baptist minister and Christian Socialist. That's 56 years after the last founding father, James Madison, died in 1836.
"Under God" was added 62 years later in 1954.
What she said may, or may not, be good enough for the founding fathers...depending on which one you pick...but is it good enough for a history teacher?
Wow, she's a history teacher and missed that? Not too surprising really. People don't seem to know much about history anymore and darn sure don't like it when it disagrees with their politics.
Read the preamble to the Constitution to today's crowds and they think you're a radical socialist.
Jesus H. Christ. I recently remember a presidential candidate that said he's campaigned in 57 states.
Are you two completely blind to anything stupid Obama says or does? I can assure you, his list of gaffes is much longer.

How about the 10,000 people that died in Kansas:

It's like laughing at a guy for having his fly down when you're standing there with your pants around your ankles.
Overkill on the reply boys. Is she exempt from ridicule over stupid remarks just because others have made them too?
I'm more concerned that as a nation we've lost track of our history. Frankly, I knew the history of the pledge and the controversy over adding "under God" during the cold war but I didn't learn about it in a classroom. She would be expected to know it as a history teacher doncha think? At least the correct timeline. But unless history is her degree I'm not too concerned about that.
Even though there are 51 states there are more locations for votes to be cast. By the time you add in Puerto Rico etc. it probably is 57. Thats probably what he meant. Not too concerned about that.
Its a long campaign and none of these are real issues. We should focus on the issues that matter not their faux pas.
BTW, I never thought it was funny or interesting when Quayle misspelled potatoe. I still don't know the correct spelling.
Sarah Palin is not a history teacher!!...good lord this is how rumors get started. She has a Poly Sci and Journalism degree from the University of Idaho.

She's what ever kind of teacher the school tells her to be if she in fact was hired as a teacher. Are you saying she wasn't?
It "poli-sci" and that makes it even worse!

She isn't immune. I'm just trying to figure out why you aren't piling on the Obama gaffes? Furthermore, why aren't you making the same justifications for Palin that you do for Obama? Stating that "under god" was good enough for the founding fathers is a true statement. References to God fill our founding documents. But she made an error. She misspoke.
Obama's 57 states comment was more ignorant that misspelling potato, but you seem to find the silver lining with Obama no matter the error. Sounds awfully robotic to me.
Obama knows there are 50 states.... he mispoke.
Which should be the end of the story... unless you're a republijerk lawyer who insists that Obama actually thinks there are 57 states...
Which is wrong.
Palin, on the other hand, shows off her Christian arrogance by parroting the 700-Club version of the founding fathers as evangelical christians.... Ask Obama directly about how many states there are and he'd say "fifty." Ask Palin that same 2006 question and I'd bet you'd get the same answer based on a creationism world view with little regard for the actual truth.

Because they aren't real issues! They're all human and they make mistakes. Worthy of noting and perhaps interesting or entertaining, but we all know these are not stupid, lazy, undistinguished people. Pick a difference in policy, economics, justice and show an inconsistency in thought or a mistake in judgement that actually affects someone outside of the race and go after that. Then its important.

Not knowing how many states there are or calling Iran a "tiny" country that's not a threat is more than just simple misspeaking...I have to give it to you though, you're a True Beliver

Sniff...sniff...sniff. I think I smell FauxTurd's sockpuppet...
Do you like soccer too?
waterboy...thanks for the typo correction...I think you meant It's poli sci.
Also... not sure where the confusion is coming from that Sarah was a teacher....to my knowledge she has not been a teacher, history or otherwise.

Maybe her idea of a "founding father" is Joe McCarthy. Since his techniques were similar to the modern neocons' techniques.

How many times does "god" appear in the Constitution?

Now, wait a minute, IPLAW, in the other thread we were learning that the "missile gap" in stupid has closed. You and guido and gaspar and the thousands of conservative residents of the wingnutosphere monkeycage don't get throw poop by yourselves anymore. You have to get hit with it, too. Sorry.
Sure, if Palin thought about it she might revise her answer, but, maybe we just want to throw it out there, and make you have to play defense for a while. [;)]
Now that I think about it, she could have gotten her calendar years mixed up with her creation years (Dinosaurs are only 6,000 creationist years old). Hey, even NASA gets its metric and USA measures mixed up. Doesn't make her stupid.

Before you rightwingers go screaming 'that's a liberal blog', remember there's embedded video in there from a CNN interview. Note how he sidesteps the base of the question.
Tucker might need a Dramamine after that interview, because the spinning might make him ill.

I saw the last part of that interview. It was hilarious to see the Tucker guy saying Palin's experience as commander-in-chief of the Alaska Natl. Guard for 20 months was serious military executive experience. When asked particularly what decisions she made he slip slided away and accused her of attacking Palin which made me laugh out loud. She would have nothing of it and was having a hard time keeping from laughing.
Who is Tucker Bounds anyway and why are they letting him speak without preparation? Never ask a question or bring up a topic without preparation. Even on CNN.
