The fireworks will be spectacular, with almost twice as many fireworks as Tulsa's annual 4th of July celebration.

WOW.

Bands, food, fireworks.  Good god I love QT.

Hanson will be there.  [}:)]

quote:
Will there be concessions at the event?

There will be several concession vendors at the event, as well as a concussion vendor for those looking for a blow to the head. There will also be a QuikTrip mobile store. Although it is a mobile store, we promise to keep it stationary during the event so you can return to buy more incredible QuikTrip products.

quote:
What will the QuikTrip mobile store be selling?

The mobile store will have fresh QT Kitchens sandwiches, wraps, salads and fruit cups. In addition, they will be selling QuikTrip's Oscar Mayer all beef hot dogs for just 50 cents. Those who wish they were an Oscar Mayer wiener will not be allowed to sell themselves for 50 cents.

Made me chuckle.  Read the FAQ, several little one liners in there that are cute.

QT is a good corporate citizen.  I'm glad they are doing well.  I give the plenty of business!

Sounds like a great way to celebrate.

I've been thinking about QT lately, and I've come up with a different way they could celebrate the end of the first 50 years.  What if QT opened a new kind of store: the Urban QT.  It would be just like a normal QT, but without the gas station and parking lot.  That way, it could fit on a corner lot downtown, and be walkable, bikeable, etc.  On-street, 3-minute parking could meet the in-and-out needs of the customers with cars. (And there are always lots of cops around QTs to give out parking tickets to anyone hogging a space!)  Imagine lots of bike racks...who knows, perhaps even a little outdoor cafe space for people to enjoy their hot dogs or whatever.

Imagine not being asked if you have any spare change!!

My response is always..."change comes from within"!

The FAQs page on their website made me chuckle a little bit.

Quote:  Can I bring my own food and drinks?

No, you will need to purchase your food and drinks on the festival grounds. The concessionaires are counting on you to help them make it through the end of the month. And bringing funnel cakes from home doesn't seem to work very well.

According to their FAQ page, beer will be available in two different tents. Unfortunately, they didn't mention if Quittin' Time would be available!

As a downtown resident, I love this idea.

Hey, here's one Idea that Q-T has studiously avoided adopting:

ANYWHERE to actually sit down around their stores.

They don't seem to want their customers to linger on their property to consume the food and drink they sell.

Oh, and when is Q-T going to break ground on their weed-overgrown vacant lot that used to be the Camelot Inn?

How long ago did they knock down the Camelot?

This has already been discussed that they were waiting on I-44 work. ODOT may need to use the lot.

Also, the city knocked down the camelot intending to bill the owners who then sold to QT who paid the tab. So saying QT knocked it down is not accurate. It was coming down regardless of QT

Waiting on I-44 work is a Tulsa Tradition.

Lots of waiting.

It has only needed widening for the past, what:

25 years?

Didn't a city Authority actually pay for the Camelot property?

It all seemed SO URGENT at one time for Q-T to honor the Erection of Q-T Store #500, knock down the Camelot, and then what:  WAIT?

Chet had Failure to Launch?

Embarrassing when that happens......

Overheard in the QT Boardroom?

"Well let's see. We could add tables and chairs to the stores."

"Inside or out?"

"Inside? NO, take up valuable sq. footage!
Outside? NO, we're not Camille's for the working class!"

"Customers hanging around would slow down turn around in the parking lot!"

"Right! We would have to increase our parking lot sizes and add extra lighting for security of our customers!"

"Probably wouldn't go over to well with the neighbors in Florence Park!"

"Ain't That right, Lamar!"
