I've always tried to be an optimist, but....
I've been stepping back and looking at the big picture and anyone who loves this country and what it stands for has lost. Only those who hate this country and think it should be forcefully incorporated in to the New World Order will be happy with the coming years.
Elitist Republicans and Democrats have been systematically burdening our country and I believe, have successfully brought its' collapse to critical mass. By the time we get the pitchforks, it will be to late.
When one side wins, they overburden us with what their Party wants, when the other side wins, the same problem. I think the last president to support the people was Reagan. Jimmy Carter was well on his way to collapsing the U.S. and only Ron gave us a reprieve. B1 openly spoke of his desire for a one world order.
Clinton used smoke and mirrors to make it look like we had a surplus, (ie, the 5yr balloon, bond issue that came due less then a year after he left office) and while it appeared we had a surplus, even as we slipped in to recession, B2 used that false credit and spent it to supposedly pull us out of recession.
Both Parties have been spending like drunken sailors, neither giving up a dime. As we deficit spend, we weaken the dollar, raising prices of barrels of oil and raising the cost of everything else, causing a collapse, that is then bought out with further deficit spending, further weakening the dollar and not solving our problem. I think we've reached the last bail out.
Year after year, our options for President have been nothing but puppets, with the choices becoming worse and worse each election cycle. I wish I had a place to go, but I'm just as stuck here as the Chinese and Russian people were as their nation fell before their eyes to Communism.
I see our nation collapsing in to default before the end of this election cycle, ushering in the great Messiah, Obama, as he seeks to "save us", scrapping what remains of our constitution and systematically handing us over to the Great Temple of the U.N. for the "greater good".
Even if John McCain were to be elected, we would only get a one term reprieve as we continued in our new Great Depression until the Next President, one that could be believed to be working for the good of the people, by giving us to the Devil/U.N... It's what Democrats buy in to. A Republican can't hand us over to the Devil. People just won't buy it and there would be a lot of unwanted unrest. It must be a person of like mind in order to look realistic.
I've laughed at conspiracy theories for my entire adult life. This country is to powerful, to resilient and dynamic for something like this to happen accidentally. We have been destroyed from the inside out and I think the only way to stop it at this late hour is through the internet. People have to see and believe or we'll wake up one day and it won't matter. Maybe you aren't fully on board. Better safe than sorry, right?
Sounds like you're in a mental recession. [}:)]
But, seriously, I have no use for Negative Nellies like you.
This is a fantastic country we live in, and I'm very optimistic we'll get out of the hard times we've put ourselves in. You greatly underestimate American resiliency.
But if you're the type who sees a cloud amid every silver lining, I can't stop you. Just don't expect me to join your pity parade.
You have clearly violated the first rule of puff, puff, pass.

Try reading some different authors and changing the dial occassionally to some upbeat programming. Something less fearmongering and more enlightening like fm89.5.
BTW, Will Rogers met lots of liberals during the 1930's and he liked them just fine.
I don't cry wolf, i just call'm as i see'm. i am feeling particularly downbeat today. I've kept a positive attitude through this crap, but the tea leaves aren't reading out so well. Today just felt like the final straw to me.
The most resilient of nations can be defeated with resolve and patience. Especially when the sheep are to blind, to stupid or just don't want to see it, failing to take any action before it's to late. As i said, better safe than sorry.
Gotta vent somewhere and I'm not pulling this off the table. I need to see SOME kind of positive SOMETHING, SOMEWHERE and I haven't seen it for a very, VERY long time. Feel free to offer some positive news that isn't totally outweighed , by it's exact counterpart. I'm always open for a little sunshine.
Someone?

Something positive?
At least Jimmy Carter isn't President.
This time...
Ummm, what does the economy have to do with the UN?
They probably wouldnt want us if we collapsed into an economic mess lol. Not that "they" "want us" anyway.
China will probably own us, and the UN soon. Their economy is booming, perhaps they can fix ours? So hey, dont worry.
(Reponse to Jimmy Carter post)
I said outweighs the current situation. I'd say we are running even or worse, on that one, but good try. I do feel a little better. He's getting old and gonna die soon. To bad he's been replaced by the new and improved versions.
Keep them rolling, I'll get over this funk. You'll have to find one I can't find something equal or greater than in our current situation. I'm telling you, I don't see it, so please, keep throw'n them out here.
I miss Tony Snow!!!!
Is there a line for the black helicopters taking us to the UN concentration camps? [}:)]
So far as that other post, when our economy goes, everyones goes and then we get blamed, as usual. In comes the bright, shiny U.N. to save the day, because they are able to fix anything, almost Nevery time. [;)]
In comes the Mesiah Obama to "make the changes necessary"(Scrap the old, out of date Constitution all Liberals seem to despise) to pave the way for the U.N. to "help" us, therefore helping themselves. Then we're all one big happy Socialist/Communist world order.
Don't worry, the Communist part won't really take effect for 2 or 3 years. First The baby steps of full blown Socialism have to take full effect before they can successfully strip us of all remaining human dignity.
I asked for uplifting posts man. Look what you caused!! [:D]
D@mn!!, now we got black helicopters!!!
Hey, you're having a better day than me....they snipped half my name!
Try this for a "happy thought".
With the price of energy getting so high, the US is using food stocks for fuel. We will no longer be able to feed the world because they want to use up all of "our" cheap energy. The population will readjust to fit the food supply. The lower population will have lower energy demands. The price of energy will go down and we can be like we always have been. [:D]

Always good advice
Really, Crash, with the construct you've developed there can't be any good news. Its like endtimes philosophy where everything is a sign. I was serious about changing your sources of history, entertainment, politics and sociology. Stop assuming everyone who agrees with you is keenly insightful and everyone who disagrees is destroying the country. Question everything you've written here. Everything.
Start with your remarks relating to the progression of Carter, Reagan, Bush1 and Clinton. Maybe, just maybe, history didn't unfold like you've been told or you interpreted it. Don't take it personally, the whole country has partitioned itself off into "my way or the highway". It was bound to create a national mental depression as Phil Gramm would say.
Until then you're just another whiny extreme conservative who sees their dynasty coming to an end.
On the first page of that site....
"" We have all heard the famous saying in regards to the basics of preparedness; "Beans, Bullets and Bandaids". It stands for the proposition that the initial steps in preparation MUST include food/water, firearms/training and medical supplies/first aid know-how. No one argues about the first layer. It sufficiently covers the basics. It will allow you to remain in your home/retreat fed, protected and cared for. For those of you who are still on the road to a SPS (sufficient preparedness state) what comes next? Level 2! ""
Black helecopters....? I wonder if my black Murano instills as much fear? I should get that black Vespa I have been wanting and paint a little UN logo on it, that would really put some fear in them lol. Zipping around midtown with a double late', striking terror into the souls of red blooded Americans. Watching as they hunker down behind barracades with supplies of beans. [:P]
Crash, take heart.
There are issues of concern. I agree that the parties are out for their power. I have thus abandoned the parties.
Energy prices are going crazy! Supply and demand you know. The good news is that indicates growing prosperity around the world. China, India and Africa are buying more fuel... they can afford to buy more fuel. On an energy level, that sucks for us. BUT, it also means they will be able to consume American products and services.
Global warming, anthrax, SARS, mad cow, killer bees... something to worry about every year. Calm down. Take a breath.
Remember, every generation and ever era before this pretty much thought we were at the end of days. Throughout American history each successive generation talked about how the country has gone to hell and we'll never recover. We continue to become more immoral, our work ethic declines, but our standard of living continues to rise.
There may indeed be rough times, but it will work itself out in the end. Or it won't. In which case position yourself to bennefit from the fall, sit back, and enjoy the show. Every nation benefits from a little revolution every now and again.
And if it doesn't work out and society collapses, my boss has a lot of guns and ammo.....

I love Powdered Toast Man.
Powdered Toast Man for President!
I still have a bunch of stuff leftover from the Y2K panic.
Society crumbles. It happens (I think Y1K was caused by the Dark Ages).
I just get all those disasters mixed up. Especially E-coli and El Nino. If I eat a rare burger it rains.

Hey! Y2K was a very real tragedy. After January 1st of 2000, none of my old calendars worked.
I had a job at a software company as the Y2K coordinator.
Good news was I performed my job flawlessly and nothing fell apart (I did nothing really, I was just a fall guy in case they needed one). The bad news was nothing fell apart so that position eliminated itself and they sent me back to sales. But it starts interesting conversations on my resume.
Guns, guns, and more guns. Doesn't everyone here have a gun anyway?
