This sounds interesting to me...

EUGENIE SCOTT TO SPEAK AT MUSEUM OF NATURAL HISTORY

NORMAN - Eugenie Scott, executive director of the National Center for Science Education, the leading advocacy group for the teaching of evolution in the U.S., will give a free public lecture at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 23, at the Sam Noble Oklahoma Museum of Natural History at the University of Oklahoma in Norman.  Scott's lecture, titled "Evolution vs. Creationism: The Problem Continues," will focus on the national debate regarding the teaching of evolution in public schools.

Dr. Scott's lecture is co-sponsored by the museum, the University of Oklahoma College of Arts and Sciences Departments of Botany-Microbiology, Physics and Astronomy, Zoology, the Oklahoma Biological Survey, the OU Biological Station and The Harris Foundation, Inc.

Scott is perhaps the foremost spokesperson for evolution in the U.S. She is author of the critically acclaimed book Evolution vs. Creationism (2004, Greenwood Press), and has written extensively on the evolution-creationism controversy in scholarly and popular venues. She has won numerous awards for her work from scholarly scientific organizations, including the Public Service Award from the National Science Board as well as awards from the American Society for Cell Biology, the American Institute of Biological Sciences, the Geological Society of America, and the American Humanist Association.

The National Center for Science Education (NCSE) is a not-for-profit, membership organization providing information and resources for schools, parents and concerned citizens working to keep evolution in public school science education. NCSE is religiously neutral, though it cooperates nationally and locally with religious organizations, as well as scientific and educational organizations like the National Academy of Sciences, the National Association of Biology Teachers, and the National Science Teachers Association.

Additional information about this and other programs of the Sam Noble Oklahoma Museum of Natural History is available on the museum's Web site:  www.snomnh.ou.edu or by calling (405) 325-4712. The museum is located on the University of Oklahoma Norman campus and is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday.
