FOTD posted the very first of these over dubs and got banned from TNF for doing so. It was called the End of the Republican Party and was put together the week after McBush announced Sarah Palin as his running mate. FOTD was blasted by Wingnutians and Dumbf#@kistanians but the parody proved to be the truth.

I'm sure that wasn't the reason you were banned. There were a litany of reasons, most of them self-inflicted.

Been watching this guys shows for 15 years now, I hope to continue that in some fashion.

If there was ideal justice in the world, NBC’s $45 million penalty to Conan O’Brien if O’Brien doesn’t host the “Tonight Show” would be donated, equally by the two parties, to help those without jobs, money, or food in this Great Depressive Recession.

But we always know that in the United States, there will be huge haves, and plenty of have-nots. True socialism won’t happen, but what a lot of people want, liberal and conservative, big city and small town, is a shot for the 90% to do better, equal to their effort, to make enough to have a decent shot at a future.

Right now, we aren’t even close to dreaming about the economic “nirvana” of the 1960s and 1970s. And unlike in the Great Depression of the 1930s, we don’t have skirmishes that involve so much money for people who work less than 40 hours a week, have untold weeks of vacation.

I don’t have a dog in the Leno-O’Brien battle (Letterman is #1 among broadcast late-night shows in my household). Our captivation with this story isn’t on the money, it’s about how employees are treated by their employer.

For those lucky to have a job, there is anger — an anger outside a lack of pay raises. There is anger over working too hard since there aren’t enough people to do the work. Maybe we aren’t able to speak up over the troubles, fearing that will give the employer a chance to let us go.

So when Conan O’Brien fires off a letter, going after his present employer, we cheer. Not for O’Brien, who will end up with a talk show and millions regardless of what happens at NBC. But we cheer that someone blew off some steam at an employer.

Yes, those who are unemployed are probably thinking, “Well, you still have a job.” True. But the fight shouldn’t be between the 90% have-nots; the struggle has to be between getting a better employment structure, preferably without the handcuffs of employer-tied health insurance, so that more of us, the 90%, can find themselves with more opportunity to live the American dream, at least the one we used to have in the 1960s and 1970s."

Where do you draw the line between have and have-not to get the 90% figure? 

I don't make anywhere near the money some "haves" do but I do NOT consider myself a have-not.

Well, I consider myself a "have" and consider myself very fortunate, especially when it comes to having health insurance at the right time... not a supporter of single payer and back in the 90s wasn't a big supporter of Hillary Clinton's "managed care" either.

Ain't gonna speak for FOTD, but I think 90% of us have found ourselves part of the "have-not" class at one point or another in our lives.

This is when those same folks who profess the virtues of "personal responsibility" call mumsy and dadsy....  ;D

Oh wait.  Er, uh.... back to the important stuff....
I always thought Conan O'Brien was a waste of time, used to be a Letterman fan, and now could probably be a fan of Jimmie Kimmel but work early mornings so I watch The Daily Show and Stephen Colbert....

I used to watch Letterman until he became so venomous during the election last fall.  i can take disagreement, partisanship jokes, etc but Letterman went over the edge and I haven't watched him since. I don't remember any one specific quote so don't bother asking for one.  The attitude is what turned me off.

LOL.  This whole thing is contrived.  CPR for both shows and/or PR for the inevatable transition of Leno.  Covers up a huge "Oops."

What Jay is allowing to be done here is nowhere near being a 'cosummate professional'.  NBC told Conan 5 years ago he gets the spot when Jay leaves.  Jay leaves.  Jay has his own prime-time talk show.  It tanks.  NBC, now with egg on face, figures Conan will capitulate when they ask him to move.  Conan essentially tells them to F O.  Now what?

Will people return to Leno?  A lot will.  I won't.  I bet others are of the same mindset as I am.

I'll start watching Letterman, or, maybe syndicated reruns of Two and Half Men might be better, now that KTUL is showing some of them in HD.

I've not been a fan of Letterman since he was at NBC mainly due to his attitude. I might tune in every now and then if he had a guest on I wanted to see. I followed Leno for awhile on the Tonight Show but eventually lost interest.  I was never a big fan of Conan either. I thought his skits were stupid and his humor sophomoric. Late night talk shows just aren't that fascinating to me anymore. They are far less about entertainment and more of a PR machine for movie & record studios anymore.

The ability to record a program, the ability to search the www, and the huge pop in programing did late nite tee wee in....and you'd think the major netwerks would figure it out.
