Title: Irrigation system
Post by: Gaspar on July 29, 2013, 06:05:35 am
I'm going to have an irrigation system put in.  Any suggestions on a company?

Also. . .
Swimming pool resurfacing, new fences, concrete pool deck and driveway repair, and whatever else I can think of.

Make sure the irrigation system uses heads that you can replace or reconfigure yourself. Sprinkler heads clog or break regularly and you want to be able to go to Lowe's or Home Depot for replacements.

Plan now for the system. Know where you are going to be building new sidewalks, patios, decks or gardens and have the system designed with that in mind. Also check your water pressure. Low water pressure makes a full system struggle.

We also had a new meter installed just for the sprinkler system. That way you won't have to pay any sewer charge (based on water usage).

Thanks RM.  Our pressure is actually at 120.  I put in a reduction valve and several water hammer arresters when we moved in because it was on the high end I wanted to avoid coming home to a flooded house.  We can probably get away with a 4 zone, because the SF of our lawn in the front is minimal and the pool takes up most of the space in the back.  I intend to insist on Rainbird or Buckner for heads.

Old post but thought I would add... Rainman installed our yard system front and back last year and they were fantastic. Our cool deck for the pool is new, so I have yet to need to replace it.
