Title: Another Lost Opportunity? Post by: skidmark on December 13, 2005, 09:26:11 am I have long been a fan of the work of Gloria Farley. For those not acquainted with her work, she is the lady that spent much of her life demonstrating that the Heavener Runestone is just that: a Viking inscription on in the face of a huge stone near Heavener, OK. In her work, she has studied many rock inscriptions in Oklahoma and many right on our river banks of european and african visitor which predate the explorations of Columbus, Vespucci, etc. She has made many castings and attempted to explain much of what she has found. Due to her age and failing health, her work is being transported to the Archives of Oklahoma Historical Society.
While relatively unheard of in archeological circles, her work is historically important and highly informative not only for those in our area but throughout N. America. Is there any way that her work could be kept in tulsa (in lieu of OKC) until a suitable means of displaying it could be undertaken? |
