Title: Fire bombing at Texas state senator's office
Post by: Ed W on March 21, 2012, 09:38:49 pm
On Tuesday, staffers at the office of Democratic state senator Wendy Davis used extinguishers against a fire started by an incendiary device thrown against their office door.  Cedric Steele, a "homeless" man with reported "mental problems" threw as many as 6 molotov cocktails against the door.  He is in custody.

It's just the latest in a series of "mentally ill lone wolves" targeting Democratic lawmakers.  Oddly, no one claims that the Republican party is linked to these assaults, yet when some bone head takes a dump in public at an OWS camp, somehow the whole group is responsible.

Just sayin'.

Of course the guilt by association would be quite palatable to Davis if a Rethug’s aides engaged in that sort of talk.

Unbelievable.

I wonder what your response to Saxby Chambliss' ad about Max Cleland was...?  You remember that one don't you?  Where he accused Cleland of not being brave enough to serve?  And showing the picture of Bin Laden with Cleland....

You remember Max, don't you?   The REAL VietNam war hero who lost 3 limbs in that war while Saxby and W were enjoying their deferment and cushy assignment stateside....

You got the last word exactly right.... unbelievable!

Yeah. I wonder about the Daisy Girl and Willie Horton, and the others. You know what they have in common? They are both "history". Not to mention that they drew scorn as well. And you are seriously calling people out for military avoidance.

Yeah!  Especially when they had "daddy" pull strings all along the way to get it done - whether they just got a fake 4-F or got cushy, drinking-every-weekend soft duty in Air Force Guard with no chance of getting sent to combat.

Limbaugh, Chambliss, and that ilk for the first.
Dubya for the second.

As for "scorn" for Chambliss, Limbaugh, Dubya.... yeah...we can see how much "scorn" they have had to endure....  millions of dollars a year's worth!!  (As in, getting paid....)

So a guy that has never served is not only criticizing those that never served but also the character of service of those that did serve. Huge ones.

You should probably understand that getting a job in the military doesn't automatically raise someone's status in the respect arena.

I've known great people who've had military jobs and I've known great people who've not had military jobs.

I've known some real jerks in both categories as well.

I would disagree. It means they did a job I didn't want to do and were willing to die at it if asked. That gets me some respect.

You are correct. To each his own.

I have had many family members serve in the military and have a niece on a boat right now in the sea near the Middle East. I am amazed at how the years they serve has made them into better human beings than when they went in.

So I am clear, my response to Harrison Alexernder was not about me at all. Just a general feeling about criticizing military service. Personally, I am more than comfortable with my lot in life. And while what I did 20 years ago certainly helps make me who I am, I have done far more in that period which defines me.

Huh....so you think I was somehow criticizing military service...  while what Saxby Chambliss said was saying outright that Max didn't have the guts to do the job....interesting way of defining terms you got there....

And for the ones who didn't serve - you know better than that, but can't help yourself...it would be off script.

I am criticizing the way these guys never served - and yes, any American has not just the right, but the duty to expose this type of hypocrisy - they all have attacked not just Max Cleland, but John Kerry - another guy who was also actually serving in a real live combat situation and got real live wounds in the process.  While skating by on their Daddy's connections...

As for Baby Bush....well, it just shows how great it is to have the money and contacts of a US Senator to keep you totally away from any opportunity to actually experience real military service.  But if I were in country during that time, I wouldn't want a drunk cokehead around anyway....especially flying a fighter jet!!   Too much "friendly fire" without those impairments.

No, they don't.

They keep electing people like Failin', Kern, Barresi, Inhofe, Lanksford, Doobie, Obama, and their ilk.
